Day 15:  Technology and data protection

Day 15:  Technology and data protection

After having a Sunday of rest, most of us went to the Vatican and participated in the canonization of Pope Paul VI, Bishop Oscar Romero, among others.

We started our day with the  celebration of the Eucharist together with the community and faith sharing in our small groups.  Before our day’s session began we had our Morning Reflection based on the feast of St. Teresa of Avila.

Mr. Nilkanth Desai, an IT & Business Strategy Consultant specializing in IT Security and Anti Fraud presented the topic for the day: “Technology and security from principles of data protection”.  He opened our eyes to the many different threats that may be risks to the safety of our devices and data and how to prevent these through the use of security patches, firewalls , encryption among others.  To be more conscious and responsible in the use of these communication gadgets we always need to ‘stop, think and click’.

At 3.00 p.m we continued with a presentation on ‘SSpS Collaboration Platforms (with hands-on) by Sr. Marides Santos, SSpS. She also shared on how to access ´My Drive´, Team Drive´, share information among Provinces, Regions and the Congregation Communication Team (CoCoTeam). She further explained how to update our profiles of our Sisters in the Provinces and Regions.  She again taught us how to manage our ´Workplace´.

In between we spent our time privately to study Chapter Five (5) of the Communication Manual.

We ended the day´s session with presentations from Austria, Argentina North, Netherlands and Poland.
