In “Evangelii Gaudium”, Pope Francis, expressing his missionary vision for the Church says: “The Church which “goes forth” is a community of missionary disciples who take the first step, who are involved and supportive, who bear fruit and rejoice. An evangelizing community knows that the Lord has taken the initiative, he has loved us first (cf. 1 Jn. 4:19), and therefore we can move forward, boldly take the initiative, go out to others, seek those who have fallen away, stand at the crossroads and welcome the out¬cast. Such a community has an endless desire to show mercy, the fruit of its own experience of the power of the Father’s infinite mercy. (EG 24)
- Let us pray that may each local church take to heart the message of the Gospel and be a Church of humble service.
Triune God, unite us through your Spirit of Goodness.
- May our Church leaders focus more on the goodness and mercy of Christ’s message and proclaim it to all the faithful.
- May Pope Francis continue to inspire the faithful to seek the lost and welcome the excluded.
- May we, as a congregation, be true and faithful witnesses to our missionary charism. May we inspire others by our commitment to serve the poor and most vulnerable.
