This year has been special in different ways. For most of us, our plans and activities have been turned upside down. There have been, and still are, very difficult situations in many places, not only because of the Pandemic, but also because of calamities like volcanic eruptions, typhoons, floods, war, and violence. With great appreciation, we noticed that our SSpS hospitals and clinics responded quickly and began accepting and caring for people infected by the coronavirus. Our teachers and schools work hard to provide quality education online. Sisters, together with many other volunteers, are reaching out to the poor, distributing food, and offering other needed help. Pastoral work continues in creative ways with the help of social media.
In solidarity with all the people who are waiting with us for the “new normal”, we look forward to welcoming the New Year 2021. The “new normal” surely will not just be a return to what has been but will include all that we have learned about God, human beings, and the whole of creation during this extraordinary time.
A very blessed Christmas 2020 to all. This Christmas, may St. Arnold Janssen’s dream become a reality, namely, that we not only adore Jesus in the manger, but that the Holy Triune God lives in our hearts and in the hearts of all people.
Excerpts from Sr. Maria Theresia Hörnemann’s 2020 Christmas Letter
Peace on earth
Harmony in Chaos
The Word becoming flesh
Love becoming tangible
Love in action
Courage for this moment
Tenderness for the past
Hope for the future
Joy to the world
Christmas is A Time
To cherish peace and goodwill
To share our blessings
Of giving and forgiving
For contemplation of Eternity
For kindling the flame of charity
Christmas is A Message
that God is with us
that God loves us infinitely
Christmas is an invitation
To Light up the world with love
To color the Universe with compassion
Together let us spread the radiance of Christmas to every corner of the world.
We Wish you a Blessed Christmas and a New year filled with joy, peace and good health!
