The SSpS-SVD Formation and Intercultural Workshop opened today, January 15, 2017, with a Holy Eucharist in honor of our Founder – St. Arnold Janssen – presided by Fr. Heinz Kulüke, SVD Superior General.  Sr. Eleonora Cichon, SSpS General Councillor, shared her reflection on the Gospel of the day – the Prologue of John – highlighting the importance and significance of this first SSpS-SVD joint formators seminar on the theme of interculturality.

After the Mass, the participants, together with the members of the Nemi Community and the members of both General Councils – SVD and SSpS, shared a joyful dinner in the spirit of the Arnoldus Family.

The Workshop will run for 3 weeks in Nemi with the participation of 15 SVD and 15 SSpS formators.  The RCI (Resource Committee of Interculturality) led by Fr. Roger Schroeder SVD  prepared the program. Some members of the Committee are going to share as resource persons.

The goals of the workshop are:

  • To educate, sensitize and motivate formators around issues of interculturality – head, heart and hands.
  • To evaluate, initiate and/or improve initial formation programs, both in their local context and in the zonal/continental levels, for both intercultural living (ad intra) and intercultural mission (ad extra).
  • To develop concrete plans and program modules.
